If you are switching from MileIQ to TruMile, the migration takes about 5 minutes and you keep your trip history. TruMile has a built-in MileIQ CSV importer that detects the format automatically.
Step 1: Export your MileIQ history
In the MileIQ app, go to Drives > Export. Select the date range you want to keep (most users select "All time" to preserve full history). MileIQ emails you a CSV file. Open it on your iPhone.
Step 2: Install TruMile
Download TruMile from the App Store. Free for 40 auto trips a month, every month. No credit card required to start.
Step 3: Import the CSV
In TruMile, go to Settings > Import. Tap "Import from MileIQ." Select the CSV file from your downloads or share sheet. TruMile auto-detects the MileIQ format and imports every trip with date, route, and classification preserved.
Step 4: Turn off MileIQ
You can run both apps in parallel for a few days to confirm the migration before canceling. Once you trust TruMile is catching trips correctly, cancel your MileIQ subscription in Settings > Subscriptions on your iPhone.
What you keep
- All historical trips with dates, distances, classifications
- Notes you added to specific trips (preserved in the CSV)
- Year-to-date totals (recalculated from imported data)
What changes
- App size: TruMile is about 19.8 MB; MileIQ is about 122.5 MB. Six times smaller install.
- Pricing: TruMile Pro is $7.99/month or $59.99/year. MileIQ's individual plan is $13.99/month or $139.99/year.
- Free tier: both give 40 auto trips per month; TruMile also accepts unlimited manual entries after the auto cap. Full comparison.
- Battery: TruMile runs on iOS significant-location-change APIs by default and only escalates to high accuracy when needed.
If something does not import
Most CSV imports work on the first try. If a trip fails to import (rare, usually due to corrupt CSV rows), TruMile flags the row and lets you skip or manually re-enter. Mid-import errors do not affect already-imported trips.
