MileIQ Raised Prices in 2025. Here Are Your Options.

Published 2026-05-04

MileIQ raised prices materially in 2025 after the Bending Spoons acquisition. Its individual plan is now $13.99/month or $139.99/year. If your renewal is landing at a higher tier than you signed up for, you have three reasonable options.

Option 1: Pay the new price

If MileIQ's detection is working for you and the higher price is still cost-effective for your mileage volume, paying the new tier is workable. For a driver claiming 20,000+ business miles, the deduction at 72.5¢/mile is over $14,500. Even MileIQ's top annual tier is a rounding error against that.

Option 2: Switch to a cheaper tracker

TruMile is $59.99/year, less than every current MileIQ annual tier, with the same 40-trips-per-month free tier MileIQ offers. Same auto-detection category, smaller install (19.8 MB vs MileIQ's 122.5 MB), and a one-tap CSV importer that preserves your MileIQ trip history. 5-minute migration guide here.

Option 3: Switch to a free tracker

Stride is genuinely free with no premium tier. The catch: Stride does not auto-detect trips. You start and stop tracking manually. For light-use drivers willing to do that, Stride saves the annual subscription cost entirely. For high-volume drivers, manual tracking misses too many trips to be worth the savings. Stride vs TruMile.

What changed at MileIQ to justify the increase

MileIQ was acquired by Bending Spoons in 2023, then by another holding company since. New ownership typically tests price elasticity within 12-24 months of acquisition. The 2025 increase was that test. Whether the increase reflects increased product investment is unclear. The app has not added meaningful new features in the period.

What to do today

  • Check your renewal date in iPhone Settings > Subscriptions.
  • If renewal is more than 30 days away, you have time to test alternatives.
  • If renewal is in the next 7 days, install a replacement now and run both in parallel until you trust the new tracker.
  • Cancel MileIQ before renewal hits to avoid getting charged at the higher tier.

Will MileIQ raise prices again?

Probably. Bending Spoons-style ownership models typically test price elasticity multiple times. The 2026 multi-tier IAP set already looks like a continuation of that experiment. Expect more tier shuffling and price tests over the next 12-24 months. Locking into an annual subscription with a different provider at a stable price is one way to insulate from this pattern.
