That tracking exists to score how you drive. It does not build a tax-ready mileage log, which is a separate thing you have to keep yourself.
What the app actually monitors
While a block is active, the Flex app uses phone sensors and GPS to watch for behaviors tied to unsafe driving: speeding relative to posted limits, hard braking, rapid acceleration, and phone handling while the vehicle is moving. This data rolls into your delivery partner standing alongside on-time performance and customer feedback.
Why this exists
Amazon uses driving-behavior scoring as part of evaluating delivery partners, similar to how other gig and delivery platforms use in-app telematics. A pattern of flagged speeding or hard-braking events can affect your standing and, in serious or repeated cases, your ability to keep picking up blocks.
What speed tracking does not give you
None of this behavioral data becomes a mileage log. It doesn't record a per-trip odometer reading, a business purpose, or a clean date-by-date total you can hand to a tax preparer. It exists to evaluate driving behavior, not to substantiate a deduction.
Does speed tracking affect what you can deduct?
No. Your mileage deduction is based on business miles driven, not on how fast you drove them. Every mile from accepting a block to completing your last delivery of that block is deductible business mileage under IRS rules, regardless of your speed score.
Can I opt out of the driving-behavior tracking?
The tracking runs as part of the Flex app during active blocks; it is tied to how the app operates, not a setting you toggle independently. What you do control is keeping your own separate mileage record, since the app's behavior data was never built for that purpose.
