Free HMRC Mileage Calculator (2026-27)
Enter your business miles for the UK tax year (6 April to 5 April). The calculator applies the correct AMAP tier for cars (45p / 25p), or the flat motorcycle (24p) or bicycle (20p) rate.
How the AMAP calculation works
Cars: first 10,000 miles × £0.45, miles after × £0.25.
Motorcycles: all miles × £0.24.
Bicycles: all miles × £0.20.
Add parking and tolls separately; those are deductible on top of AMAP.
What this calculator does not include
VAT reclaim. If you are VAT-registered, you can reclaim a portion of the VAT included in the fuel component of AMAP. The reclaim is calculated against the HMRC advisory fuel rate, not AMAP itself. See the VAT-on-mileage page for the calculation.
Company-car drivers. Company-car mileage uses HMRC advisory fuel rates (AFRs), not AMAP. This calculator handles the personal-vehicle AMAP method only.
FAQ
Does the 10,000-mile tier apply across two cars?
Yes. The boundary is per employee, per tax year - not per vehicle. If you drive two personal vehicles for work in the same tax year, the 10,000-mile tier-1 allowance applies once across both.
What if my tax-year mileage straddles two AMAP years?
AMAP rates have been frozen since 2011, so the straddle is a non-issue in practice - both years use 45p / 25p. If a future rate change occurs mid-year, the trip's date governs which rate applies.
