Scope: what each app actually is

Mileage tracker plus a Teams admin tier shipped in the same binary. The Teams dashboard surface is part of why every solo install is 122 MB.

TruMile is a single-purpose mileage tracker. Detection, classification, saved routes, IRS-compliant export, US/Canada/UK/Australia tax rates. That is the whole product. There is no Teams admin tier, no invoicing module, no fleet dashboard, no in-app insurance enrollment, no time tracking, no scheduling.

MileIQ is the better fit when

Fleet managers and small-business owners running multiple drivers under one billing relationship.

  • If you manage a fleet today, MileIQ for Teams is more mature than anything TruMile ships. TruMile is a solo and self-employed tool.
  • If your accountant insists on the MileIQ name on the export, MileIQ wins by recognition.

TruMile is the better fit when

Self-employed drivers, gig workers, realtors, and 1099 contractors who want a fast, light, single-purpose tracker without paying for fleet features they will never use.

  • 19.8 MB. Six times smaller than MileIQ on the same job.
  • Native SwiftUI. No legacy stack carried since the Microsoft acquisition.
  • Single-purpose app. No Teams admin UI shipped to solo drivers who never touch it.
  • $7.99/mo Pro tier. MileIQ's individual unlimited plan is $13.99/mo, nearly double, for the same core job.

What MileIQ does well

Honest credit where credit is due. MileIQ ships these things on the App Store today:

  • 13 years of detection-engine refinement on iOS
  • Mature Teams tier for managers running multiple drivers
  • Recognized name with accountants and tax preparers

FAQ

Why is MileIQ so much larger than TruMile?

MileIQ ships a Teams admin tier in the same binary as the driver app. Plus the engineering history of a 13-year app acquired by Microsoft means a deeper dependency stack. TruMile is native SwiftUI with no Teams surface, which keeps the binary at 19.8 MB.

Can I import my MileIQ trips into TruMile?

Yes. Export your MileIQ trips as XLS or PDF, convert to CSV, and import into TruMile. The trips, dates, and classifications come over.

Does MileIQ sync to QuickBooks Self-Employed?

MileIQ used to offer a CSV export that QuickBooks Self-Employed could import directly. That CSV path was removed. The current flow is XLS or PDF export, manual conversion, then a CSV import to QBSE. It is not a live two-way sync.
