Free CRA Kilometre Calculator (2026)

Enter your business kilometres for the year. The calculator applies the CRA tier ($0.73/km up to 5,000 km, $0.67/km after) and adds the $0.04 territory bonus if you select NT, YT, or NU.

How the calculation works

Tier 1 (first 5,000 business kilometres): kilometres ร— $0.73 (or $0.77 in NT/YT/NU).

Tier 2 (every kilometre after 5,000): kilometres ร— $0.67 (or $0.71 in NT/YT/NU).

Add parking and tolls separately; those are deductible on top of the per-km rate.

What this calculator does not include

Provincial tax savings. Most provinces and territories add their own deduction on the provincial return, which compounds the federal savings; the amount varies by province and bracket.

Capital cost allowance (CCA). If you use the actual-expenses method instead of per-km, you separately depreciate the vehicle on form T2125 schedule 8. This calculator handles the per-km method only.

FAQ

Does the 5,000 km tier apply per car or per person?

Per car, per year. If you use two vehicles for business, each gets its own 5,000 km tier-1 allowance.

Why is my territory bonus only $0.04?

That is the published CRA rate for NT, YT, and NU. The bonus applies on top of both tier 1 and tier 2 - so the effective rates in those territories are $0.77/km up to 5,000 km and $0.71/km after.
